Keith Haring ROTHSCHILD 1988

With the liberation of France, to celebrate the return of peace, Baron Philippe conceived the idea of dedicating the vintage of 1945, one of the greatest of the century, to Annee de la Victoire, the year of victory. He commissioned Philippe Jullian to produce a design for the label based on the “V” sign made famous by Winston Churchill.

The designing of the label became an annual event and since that time the greatest of artists have been invited to work with Rothschild. Their payment would be a number of cases of wine from that particular year and a selection of cases from other years.

The images were also used to create lithographic prints, these could only be acquired from Rothschild and were never made generally available to the public. These are considered actual works and are documented as such in the catalogues of the respective artists.

These prints are no longer being produced and have become collectable.
